Cynthia Erivo and the rest of the cast of the blockbuster film “Wicked” are in Australia this week, feting the project’s world premiere. While there, the group attended a photocall on Tuesday. For the event, Erivo and stylist Jason Bolden continued on with her theme of method dressing, which has included largely focusing on a black and green color palette.

At the photocall, this meant a black and green lace top and skirt set from the fall 2011 collection of Marc Jacobs. For shoes, Erivo added considerable height with platform boots.

The boots were the five-buckle Marc Jacobs Kiki style. The shoe is made of patent leather and features a chunky platform and a sculpted block heel. The platform itself measures four inches. with a round toe, the front of the shoe is open, featuring Mary Jane-like buckles going up the style. In this iteration there are five, stoping at the ankle.

The Kiki boot was initially introduced in the fall 2016 collection but it has become a staple of Marc Jacobs in the years to follow being released in various colors and fabrications. Over the past two years they have become a favorite of celebrities worn in a variety of contexts. Early wearers included Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, Nicki Minaj and Ava Max. But that has since exploded: Cardi B wore a five-buckle version in white over the summer to the latest Marc Jacobs show; Nicky Hilton wore the same boots to the 2024 WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards; Drew Barrymore even wore a style in black leather on “The Drew Barrymore Show;”and Ice Spice wore them in satin pink knee-high height to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

It comes as more and more celebrities sport the super elevated vintage heels from Vivienne Westwood. The likes of Cardi B and Katy Perry have worn those super-tall heels.
