Cate Blanchett is pushing forward with her sometimes off-kilter style. The actress attended the red carpet for the screening of her film “Rumours” at the BFI London Film Festival on Sunday wearing a striped skirt suit with a pair of classic patent leather pumps.
The shoes were stylish stiletto pumps. Made of patent leather, the slick shoes featured a pointed toe. The vamp on the style was cut higher on the foot, revealing no toe cleavage. It was also cut straight across the top of the foot as opposed to being rounded as many pumps are.
The shoe sports a stiletto heel on the back of about three to four inches. The entire shoe is teal.
Stiletto pumps in leather are go-to heels in most women’s wardrobes. Often rendered in solid colors including neutrals as well as a variety of other hues, they are often seen as endlessly versatile, depending on the color. Designers like Roger Vivier are considered to have contributed to the design of the modern day stiletto pump.
Blanchett, working with longtime stylist Elizabeth Stewart, paired her heels with a button down, long sleeved shirt of the same color. Over the shirt she wore a red and white striped skirt suit from the brand Rochas. The skirt was a below the knee design with a high slit. The two-button jacket was a boxy silhouette with three quarter length sleeves and a cropped body that revealed the cuffs of the button-down shirt. The combination made for a quirky impact.

Blanchett is certainly no stranger to eye-catching sartorial choices, especially in shoes. Earlier this year while promoting her film “Borderlands” she wore a pair of white, green and black Diadora sneakers. Those lace-up styles had a bright and graphic sensibility. While on that same press tour she wore a pair of reptile-print pumps from Christian Louboutin on “Good Morning America.”
