Billy Porter was honored on Monday night in New York City. At the historic Stonewall Inn, widely credited as the space that helped launch the modern day gay civil rights movement, Porter was a boldfaced name for the Brick Awards. Porter was presented with the Icon Award for the night, given to him by “Pose” co-star Dominique Jackson.
To accept the honor, Porter wore a pair of boots. The boots were a Chelsea style with spandex panels on the sides. The panels ensure the boots are easy to put on and take off. Porter’s style also included a platform of about two inches. In addition, they sport a block heel on the back of about five to six inches.
Porter, who sang at the award show, often has worn platform boots featuring a heel. HIs favorite brands have included Rick Owens, Christian Louboutin, Gucci, Syro and Jeffrey Campbell amongst others. And of those styles, he often prefers the more eye-catching. For the Stonewall Brick Awards his shoes shimmered.
Previously he wore a pair of crystal-embellished white Christian Louboutin boots to the White House Correspondents Dinner. That event was in April of this year and Porter’s sparkly footwear matched the rest of his shimmering ensemble. Those white shoes contrasted with a black iridescent pair of Christian Louboutin platform boots a year prior. Back in April of this year he wore a pair of black leather platform boots from Gucci to the Legacy Gala. The boots were the company’s Marmont Fringe ankle boots. He re-wore the boots to the Global Black Pride reception in August. He’s also worn the Rick Owens Kiss boot on multiple occasionas.
In 2021, Porter collaborated with Jimmy Choo on a range of extended sizes. That included platform boots, metallic stacked heels and suede pump shoes. It was released during Pride month.
