Billie Eilish’s footwear style has always veered toward the unexpected, and she’s staying consistent in her newest music video by lacing up an obscure pair of sneakers.
The singer’s “Birds of a Feather” video was released Friday and is currently the top-trending music clip on YouTube. In the video, Eilish is seen seated in an empty room before being pulled across an office space by an invisible entity.
She’s clad in what’s become her signature 1990s-informed style: a baggy T-shirt with an equally oversized thermal shirt underneath, long cargo shorts and socks pulled high. On foot, Eilish represented Nike — the brand which the singer has had a partnership with since 2021 — but she wasn’t wearing one of her collaborations or a pair that can be easily picked up in stores.
Her sneaker of choice was the 2005 Nike Dunk Low Premium in a “Hot Red/Black/Varsity Red” colorway. Released during a time before sneaker nicknames were common, the pair features a black suede upper with a red tartan plaid pattern filling in the toe and heel area.

Not to be confused with the “Tartan Plaid” Nike Dunk Low Premium which was released in January 2023, the pair worn by Eilish has been nicknamed “Red Tartan Plaid” and “Hot Red Check” by some fans.
Like a number of Nike’s coveted Dunks from the 2000s era, the plaid-accented pair was first released exclusively in Japan, adding to its allure. Eventually, the colorway was stocked stateside at retailer Journeys.
Due to their age and relative obscurity, the tartan-tinged ’06 Dunk Low Premium, which has a SKU of 307696-601, has become scarce on today’s market. A size 12 is currently available on eBay for an asking price of $295. Meanwhile, Flight Club and GOAT have product pages for the style, but do not have any pairs in stock.
Eilish regularly wears and endorses sneakers which may have gone overlooked by fans. The singer’s 2021 Air Jordan 15 collaboration was noteworthy for using a much-maligned model — even designer Tinker Hatfield has called it his “worst design.”
Fans who aren’t able to track down the vintage Nike Dunks may have better luck with the T-shirt worn by Eilish in the video. The “Athletics Tee” from Jasper Sport is available now from the brand’s web store for $45.
