Ben Affleck was spotted with his son Samuel in Santa Monica, Calif., on Thursday. On foot, the Oscar-winning actor and director showcased colorful Nike SB Dunks.
While Affleck wore low-top Dunks during the outing, his 12-year-old son — who he shared with ex-wife Jennifer Garner — donned black-and-white On Cloud Sky shoes.
In recent years, Ben Affleck has been known to step out in various Nike and Jordan silhouettes. The “Argo” star, in particular, is a big fan of Dunks but has also been seen in Air Force 1s. His favorite Jordan models appear to be the iconic 1s, 3s and 4s.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Premium “De La Soul” is not a recent release as it dropped in the spring of 2015. The shoe’s eye-catching design pays homage to the Long Island hip-hop trio De La Soul with vinyl graphic overlays inspired by the cover art from their debut album “3 Feet High and Rising.” The upper is dressed in dark brown suede and green elephant print and is complete with lime green Swooshes, laces and midsoles. On eBay, resale prices for the shoe range from $250 to as much as $3,500.
While the original Nike Dunk debuted as a basketball silhouette in 1985, the skateboarding community adopted the shoe in the ’90s, eventually leading to the launch of the Nike SB Dunk in 2002. The SB Dunks are slightly different in construction as they feature a thicker tongue, a Zoom Air pod at the heel and spongy Poron foam at the forefoot.
The shoes were hugely popular in the early aughts until the hype died down in the 2010s. Dunks saw a resurgence around 2020, though, with the release of a number of buzzy collaborations, including the Nike Dunk Low “Chunky Dunky” by Ben & Jerry’s.
