Bella Hadid Makes a Case for Socks and Mules Wearing Sorel x Proenza Schouler Shoes

Bella Hadid stepped out in Malibu on Oct. 23 wearing a brand new shoe, a mule born of a collaboration between Sorel and Proenza Schouler.
Hadid, whose street style has majorly contributed to the popular conception of the off-duty model aesthetic, was unsurprisingly out and about in a casually fashionable ensemble. She wore a pair of white briefs with a lavender scoop neck top made of a lightweight ribbed fabric. This loungewear look was elevated by an oversized barn coat in a rustic shade of brown. She exuded an office-chic aura with a pair of narrow-framed eyeglasses evoking Gisele Bündchen’s character in “Devil Wears Prada.”
The supermodel brought a new sensibility to the ensemble with a pair of mules created by Sorel and Proenza Schouler. Known as the Caribou Mule, the shoes were launched on Oct. 22 alongside the Caribou Chelsea Boot as part of the collaboration between the longstanding footwear brand and the luxury label. An official release describes the shoes, “The Sorel x Proenza Schouler collaboration translates the function of the classic Caribou into an elevated, everyday pair of styles that can be worn around the city.” Hadid chose to pair the shoes with a pair of white crew socks, further emphasizing her laidback look.

The shoes are made with leather and include Proenza Schouler’s heavy contrast stitch detailing and a custom logo tab in back. In addition to black, the mule is also offered in a two-toned option referred to as Golden Ochre and a solid off-white version known as Chalk. The mule retails for $350 while the boot is marked at $400.
This Malibu outing comes not long after Hadid walked in the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which took place in New York City on Oct. 15 for the first time since 2018. Following the hiatus, the models took to the runway in shoes designed by Rene Caovilla.
