On June 30, the final day of the Glastonbury 2024 festival, Avril Lavigne performed on the Pyramid stage, with her footwear notably standing out.
The “Sk8er Boi” singer owned the stage alongside acts like K-Pop group Seventeen, Due Lipa and Janelle Monae, among others. She played some of her biggest tracks including “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi” and “My Happy Ending.”
Lavigne wore black, lace-up combat boots that complemented her edgy, rebellious style. The boots featured a chunky platform sole, adding height and presence, and were adorned with metal eyelets and thick laces, enhancing the industrial vibe of her outfit.
These boots matched the rest of her completely unique rock and roll outfit by Michael Ashton, who distressed her plaid skirt and top with rips, safety pins, studs and layers of distressed fabric. Paired with distressed fishnets, the boots were also practical, providing the support and comfort needed for a live festival performance and allowing Lavigne to move freely and connect with the audience.
Lavigne’s combat boots paid homage to her pop-punk roots. Offstage, she continues to favor platform shoes. Last week at the Elie Saab Couture Fall 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week, Lavigne chose black leather platform sandals. In April, she similarly wore black leather platform boots that laced up the front at the iHeartRadio Music Awards where she presented Green Day with the Landmark Award at the awards show.
Founded by Michael Eavis in 1970, Glastonbury Festival features around 3,000 performances across over 80 stages.
