Portman also wore a pair of buckled leather boots. Aside from the lofty buckle straps, the silhouette contained a zipper, which further helped with securing her feet in place. Boasting a platform in the upper estimated a little over 1 inch in height, Portman’s boots were completed by a slight chunky heel measuring roughly 1.5 inches.

Leather boots have a distinct history that dates back to their inception in the 17th century when they were created by Thomas Pendleton. Back then, the main purpose of the leather boot was to protect one’s foot while walking, but in the centuries since, they have become used primarily for stylistic purposes, with many brands such as Gucci, Steve Madden, Timberland and more offering many different iterations of the model. Dr. Martens also recently revealed a new biker boot silhouette.
