Anitta Channels Iconic MTV Moments in White Dress and Strappy Silver Shoes at 2024 VMAs

As MTV’s Video Music Awards looks back over its 40 year span, Anitta referenced some of the institution’s buzziest moments on the red carpet. The singer appeared on the black carpet at the event held at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York tonight wearing a white seemingly bridal-inspired dress, complete with a veil as well as a pair of strappy silver sandals.
The stunner was styled by Alejandra LaPilusa in an all white custom dress from Dolce & Gabbana. The dress can be read as a reference to any number of VMAs moments including a Madonna performance of “Like A Virgin” from 1984 where Madonna wore a bridal gown. It also can be read as a reference to a 2003 performance of the same song where Britney Spears appeared in the all-white, veiled look alongside Christina Aguilera in a bridal gown of her own. Anitta wore the look with a wrist full of diamond bracelets as well as white thigh high sheer stockings.

Over the stockings she buckled into a pair of silver strappy sandal shoes. The heels feature two straps across the toes as well as an ankle strap. The ankle strap attached to a strap that wraps around the back of the foot like a slingback.
The shoe sports a high stiletto heel, likely of about four inches.
The shoes are from Dolce & Gabbana. The Italian brand is known for its sexy designs. They are often a favorite for celebrities as a result of their custom atelier.
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted by Megan Thee Stallion. The ceremony recognizes the best music videos, songs and artists of the year. To celebrate the anniversary, amongst the categories this year there is VMAs Most Iconic Performance. The joint performance of spears, Aguilera and Madonna seemingly referenced in Anitta’s look is nominated for that category. Anitta is nominated in two categories.
