Angelina Jolie brought her timeless style to the 81st Venice International Film Festival, turning heads at the premiere of “Maria” on Aug. 29 in a beige gown and matching Aquazzura platform sandals. Jolie was in attendance as she stars in the film as the famed opera singer Maria Callas.

She looked prepared to head to the Met as she walked the red carpet in an ethereal floor-length gown from Tamara Ralph. The layered dress was made of fine ruched fabric which was fitted around the bodice and fell into a long flowing skirt. Jolie accented the strapless look with a beige fur shawl that also left her shoulders exposed. A golden floral pin was attached to the shawl, further underscoring Jolie’s elegance.

Though mostly obscured by her skirt, Jolie’s shoes perfectly matched her outfit. She wore Aquazzura’s Sundance Plateau 140, which is a soaring platform sandal. In a light gold hue, the shoe features a linear textured design adding a unique element to the look.

Straps connect near the front to create a peep-toe effect while the back of the foot was supported by a slingback strap connected to a thin strap encircling the ankle. The block heel measured 140 mm, offering ample additional height to Jolie. The sandals retail for $950 from the luxury brand.

From Hollywood to Venice, Jolie is well known for her sharp fashion sense. Before the festival commenced, she was seen in the Floating City wearing a cinched trench coat with a pair of slouchy leather boots that appeared to hail from Celine.

Wearing another peep-toe style this year, she slipped on heeled sandals in a bold red hue for the opening night of Broadway’s “The Outsiders,” which she produced. In New York last year, she elevated a chic monochrome look with suede black pumps.

In the film directed by Pablo Larrain, Jolie stars as opera singer Maria Callas. The Venice Film Festival crowd responded to the film’s world premiere with a reported eight-minute standing ovation. Netflix announced that it has acquired distribution rights to the film earlier this week.

“I’m excited to partner again with the Netflix team who care so passionately about movies,” the filmmaker said in a statement. “This film is my most personal work yet. It is a creative imagining and psychological portrait of Maria Callas, who, after dedicating her life to performing for audiences around the world, decides finally to find her own voice, her own identity, and sing for herself.”
