Angelina Jolie stood tall at the Gotham Awards, held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Dec. 2, wearing strappy platform sandals from Aquazzura with an archival designer dress.
At the awards show celebrating film and television, Jolie was on hand to accept the Performer Tribute award for her turn as opera singer Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain’s biopic “Maria.” For the celebratory evening, she selected a vintage black gown from Balmain, which was crafted with a silky material and accented with a sumptuous velvet trim.
As for the dress’s silhouette, it was designed with a high neckline and a loose fit, draping elegantly and forming a diamond-like shape in front. She accessorized the look with a gold cuff worn on her left forearm.

Jolie’s outfit allowed her Aquazzura sandals to be spotted. She stepped out in the brand’s La Nuit Sandal Plateau 140, which retails for $1,695. Crafted from satin, the style features three slender straps intersecting across the foot, allowing the toes to be seen. Additionally, there are adjustable straps around the ankle secured with a buckle.
Adding a subtle glimmer to her outfit, the platform and heel of the shoe are adorned with small light-catching beads forming a geometric pattern. With a soaring 140 mm block heel, the statement-making style is also available in gold from Aquazzura.
Jolie could be considered a devotee of Aquazzura, particularly the brand’s Plateau line. In recent months, she’s stepped out in the Italian brand’s red velvet Romance Sandal Plateau 130 to attend the New York Film Festival, and she donned the light gold Sundance Plateau 140 for the Venice Film Festival in August.
Thus the Gotham Awards marks a continuation of her Aquazzura platform sandal streak, showing she appreciates the style for a special occasion. While you might get used to seeing her heels, she likes a flat as well, having slipped into a black velvet pair at the Torino Film Festival in November. Discover more of Jolie’s style below.
