Ocasio-Cortez was photographed in New York City on April 8 wearing blue suede shoes with what appears to be a 3-inch block heel and a pointy toe.
Blue suede shoes have been a fashion staple for years, especially since they gained much attention in the ’50s when Carl Perkins released a song titled “Blue Suede Shoes,” which was later covered and made famous by Elvis Presley.

Though blue suede shoes have remained a go-to classy shoe since the 50s, in 2013, there was a notable rise in the trend. From celebrities like Prince Harry and Janice Dickinson to regular shoe-wearers, blue suede shoes began having a moment once again over a decade ago.
