Halsey Channels the ’80s in Padded Shoulder Dress & Strappy Sandals at Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2023
Halsey brought back an ’80s trend for the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The singer wore a Givenchy number from the Parisian brand’s spring 2023 collection under the creative direction of Matthew M. Williams. The dress featured padded shoulders with a backless silhouette.
Harnessing the statement-shoulder motif, her long-sleeve dress fell into an open-back design joined by a v-shaped hem at its tail. The dress was ruched from waist to hem and down the back of the fitted all-black silhouette.
Halsey’s daring red carpet arrival was amplified with a wet-look hairstyle and a singular wristlet clasp placed on the right arm. Select strands were sculpted along the hairline and temples.
The American Music Award two-time nominee wore open-toe sandals with straps that spiraled upward toward her dress’s one-leg open slit. The sandals featured a narrow heel with a 3-inch height and were a familiar pair amongst Halsey’s sandal rotation.

This year’s Vanity Fair Oscar party was not the first time Halsey was in attendance. At the 2022 gathering, she embraced the monochromatic hues all over again. Except, her style statement then was sheer, covered in lace, and with a hint of gilded hues starting with the straps of the gown.
The annual Oscars celebrates film, cinematography and the artists who bring characters to life. This year, Jimmy Kimmel hosted the show. The night’s winners included Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser. Performances included Rihanna and Lady Gaga and Stephanie Hsu.
