LA3C Music & Food Festival 2023 kicked off in Los Angeles on Friday. The event was launched by Penske Media in 2022 to shine a light on culture and talent in Los Angeles, where the company is headquartered.
On Day 2 of the festival, Erykah Badu took to the stage for her headlining musical performance.
Beforehand, numerous additional musical acts also performed onstage for the occasion — including Aja Monet, Sudan Archives, Pauli the PSM and Novena Carmel.
On Day 1 of the festival, comedian Fred Armisen performed onstage along with electro-space pop duo Def Rain, internet personality Siobhan Bell and musician Lindsay Olsen aka Salami Rose Joe Louis.
The festival aims spotlights L.A.’s best music, food, and film scenes. Open to all ages, the festival takes place in DTLA’s Historic Core from Nov. 10 to Nov. 12 at four of the city’s most iconic venues, the Theatre at the Ace Hotel, Los Angeles Theatre, Orpheum Theatre and Palace Theatre.
LA3C brings together artists, tastemakers, performers, and vendors to celebrate the uniqueness of Los Angeles. Erykah Badu and Herbie Hancock will be headlining the festival. Other performers include Robert Glasper, Flying Lotus, Questlove, Kamasi Washington, Sudan Archives, Marc Rebillet among others.
Beyond the music, LA3C collaborated with Biite Club to curate a 50,000-square-foot outdoor dining plaza that includes chefs and concepts from across Los Angeles. Vendors include A’s BBQ, Bridgetown Roti, Campo é Carbon, Estrano x Pearl River Deli, Hotville Chicken, iii Mas, MAMA Night Market, Speak Cheezy, Quarters Korean BBQ, among others. Adding to the experience will be Market performances by Questlove, Novena Carmel and Kamasi Washington, as well as a Do-Over-hosted party to close the event.
A portion of all ticket sales will benefit the non-profit The Los Angeles Community Action Network. According to its website, the organization helps people dealing with poverty create and discover opportunities, while using their voices to create change.
Last year, the first LA3C Festival was held at Los Angeles State Historic Park from Dec. 10-12. The occasion included a range of performances from artists including Snoop Dogg, Seventeen and Maluma, according to Billboard. The event also featured a salon-style space that hosted various panels.
