On Friday, Oct. 9, Variety‘s Power of Women luncheon kicked off with a strong showing on the red carpet at the Four Seasons Regent Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles.
Salma Hayek, Anna Kendrick, Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah Winfrey and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki were honored for leading by example and using their platforms and influence to bring attention to worthy causes.
Hayek’s cause is Chime for Change, which she co-founded with Beyoncé and Gucci. During the event, her speech focused on women in Hollywood and change in the industry. “These romantic comedies aren’t working anymore. Why? We changed! But no one took the time to change with us,” she said, according to Variety.
