Have Reefs, will travel: That was the thinking behind the California surf brand’s second footwear collaboration with designer Masafumi Watanabe.
Watanabe, who is the founder of Japanese lifestyle label Bedwin & The Heatbreakers, has envisioned a capsule series inspired by the idea of a journey.
The looks he created are intended to be versatile and multifunctional — and there’s a style for every season, no matter where you’re headed in the world.
Items in the M.W. for Reef collection include two versions of the Reef Voyage flip-flop done with a leather footbed and a tan nylon strap (for women) and olive-colored strap (for men).
There’s also a gray canvas Reef Rover Low style with blue accents and a Reef Rover Mid shoe offered in rich navy suede.
Watanabe said in a statement, “For this second collaboration, we focused on the journey experience rather than the destination. Our goal was to design products that are at the same time comfortable, functional and aesthetically appealing to the modern travelers.”
The M.W. for Reef collection is set to hit stores in June and will retail for $100 to $115.
