Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama are dining tonight at Kensington Palace in London with President Obama, Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Cambridge — who returned from a whirlwind trip to India last Sunday and was at Windsor Palace on Thursday to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s birthday — is wearing an L.K. Bennett printed silk dress and Rupert Sanderson Malory navy suede pumps that retail for $675. Obama, who had lunch today with her husband, the queen and Prince Philip, chose Jimmy Choo‘s “Marny” suede and metallic ankle-strap pumps for this evening. She wore Jimmy Choo “Aza” black patent pumps earlier this afternoon.
That first time the women met, also at Kensington Palace, occurred just after the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, then newlyweds, returned from their honeymoon. For the occasion, Middleton — accompanied by Prince William — donned a dress by Reiss, one of her favorite high-street designers and paired it with simple black L.K. Bennett pumps.

The first lady, who was there with President Obama, wore a shiny floral blue frock with a pink jacket and pointy-toe metallic Manolo Blahnik pumps. Earlier this year, Obama wore Blahnik again to host the Canadian first couple at a White House state dinner.
The Obamas’ visit to London marks their last one as the first couple of the United States. On Friday, the president held a new conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, one of his closest allies.
