Well hello to New York is right. Fergie kicked off a very special Footwear News Achievement Awards last night by doing one of the things she does best (other than make statement shoes, of course): singing.
Fergie sang out the first notes of Adele’s hit song “Hello” with a few amendments of her own. “Hello New York! Hello Shoe People!” she said. You can watch the entire clip below.
If there’s one star who is quite at home in the shoe world, its Fergie. She signed her first shoe deal with Caleres Inc. back in 2009 and has been designing for Fergilicious ever since.
Fergie gave a shout out to her “footwear family” and “badass chairwoman” and CEO of Caleres, Diane Sullivan. She also gave a nod to fellow Caleres members Sam and Libby Edelman, who were inducted into the FN Hall of Fame last night.
In a room filled with big names like Alexa Chung, Eva Chen, Prabal Gurung and Kanye West, it was quite the fashion-first affair and celebration for the most outstanding moments in shoes this year. And Fergie certainly knows how to start a show: “Kick off your heels and have a kick ass night,” she said.
