NBA pro Dwyane Wade took a break from the NY Fashion Week: Men’s shows to grace the red carpet of ESPN’s ESPY Awards in his typical high style.
For the special event Wednesday night in Los Angeles, he opted for shoes from one of his favorite designers: Giuseppe Zanotti.
The new member of the Chicago Bulls wore Zanotti’s black velvet loafers with a satin band, pairing them with a navy-and-black tuxedo. And he loved the slip-ons so much he cuffed his pants to let the shoes — and his ankle bracelets — shine.
Wade told Footwear News recently that Zanotti is among his go-to shoe labels right now, along with Saint Laurent, Del Toro and Vans. And the court, he’s always sporting his signature Li-Ning Way of Wade sneakers.
“My personal style is unpredictable, but [also] an expression of my or my mood,” Wade told FN. “Without speaking, it lets the world know what hat I am wearing that day, literally and figuratively — whether it’s father, basketball, business or trendsetter. Ultimately, it is effortless.”
Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, is also a fan of Giuseppe Zanotti and has donned the designer’s heels several times on the red carpet, although for the ESPYs she wore a Jimmy Choo style hidden underneath her Augusta Getty Atelier gown.
At the ESPY Awards, Wade opened the show alongside fellow NBA stars LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Standing side by side, the four men shared a special message urging an end to gun violence and racial profiling in this country.
