[UPDATED] After several high profile brands cut ties with businessman and presidential candidate Donald Trump over his immigration comments last week, Chinese Laundry announced today it would continue its relationship with the Miss Universe and Miss USA organizations, which Trump owns. The brand has been the sponsor for the past five years.
The company released a statement saying: “Chinese Laundry has been a proud supporter of the Miss Universe organization since 2010, for its celebration of the diversity of women from all walks of life and cultures. These women, and the hundreds of small businesses the pageant supports, are the reason we will honor our commitment to an organization that empowers women to be confident and always reach for their dreams.”

Donald Trump is certainly known for causing a stir and the hits just keep on coming. Macy’s announced they are cutting ties with the presidential candidate.
The retailer made the decision to pull all merchandise from their stores, after a Change.org petition circulated over 7,000 signatures. This comes on the heels of the news Monday, that NBC had dropped their association with his programs, including “Celebrity Apprentice” and the Miss Universe Organization.
“We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico,” Macy’s said in a statement, as told to Variety. “We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation.”
“In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004,” said the statement.
Miss USA co-host Cheryl Burke also announced her decision to remove herself from the competition.
Chinese Laundry has been the official footwear sponsor for the Miss USA and Miss Universe organization for the past few years. The brand has yet to confirm if their relationship with the organization will change.
