Shoes and chocolate: We can’t think of a better combination, and it looks as though Houston chocolatier Annie Rupani agrees.
Rupani and her gourmet chocolate store Cacao & Cardamom have the perfect sweet treat for the shoe lover: Christian Louboutin chocolate heels.
Rupani told Footwear News she got inspiration for the chocolate shoes while thinking about what would be a fun project for Mother’s Day. She said once the shoe mold arrived from Europe, it took her and her team several weeks to learn how to perfect making the chocolate shoes. After that, it was off to the races.
“We played around with it because there is just so much you can do with the embellishment with sugar, pearls and chocolate chips,” said Rupani. “We really had to practice the red sole because you couldn’t paint it without it getting on the top of the shoe, and vice versa. It was quite the learning process.”
Since then, she’s created identical replicas of area fashion blogger shoes and turned to luxury designers to find inspiration for the mini creations.
“Now I just have to find how to make a true pointed-toe heel,” said Rupani. “That mold I may need to make myself.”
Besides the standout chocolate shoes, Cacoa & Cardamom also specializes in chocolates featuring flavors such as Maple Pecan, Masala Pistachio and Szechuan Peppercorn. Rupani says the shoes, though, are a big favorite with shoppers — and we’re not the least bit surprised.
