From Crystal T-Strap Sandals to Low-Rise Jeans: Looking Back at Britney Spears’ ‘Lucky’ Fashion

As Halsey prepares to sample and release her own song of the same name, take a look at the iconic 2000s music video.

This is a story about a girl named Britney. In 2000, Britney Spears released the music video for song “Lucky,” and this week, the hit may surely make a comeback as Halsey announced that she sampled the song on her upcoming single by the same name.

According to Halsey, she confirmed that she received Spears’ “blessing” to interpolate the song.

As we wait for Halsey’s visuals and her own take on “Lucky,” let’s take a look at Spears‘ music video and its fashion — in all of its 2000s glory.

For starters, Spears’ dress and jeans combo may never be forgotten. As she sits atop a dangling star, the singer pairs pointed-toe, metallic booties with a one shouldered, pink tulle gown with a dark denim boot-cut jean. Boots with elongated toes dominated the decade as they often were paired with the flare jeans at the time.

In another memorable early aughts look, Spears can be seen throughout the video in low-rise, lace-up white pants and a quintessential cropped red tank.

Then there’s the ultimate 2000s shoe moment when Lucky steps onto the red carpet wearing a crystal-embellished t-strap sandal. The t-strap was a go-to for the red carpet and “it” girls during that time — but the large crystals make these even more representative of the decade.
