The Aldo Rise initiative—which sees the retailer collaborate with rising designers on capsule collections—will continue into its third season with Nonoo, offering an edited collection of shoes and handbags, to debut at New York Fashion Week.
“My starting point was the 1960’s minimal art movement, and the simultaneous spirited beginnings of the women’s rights movement,” said Nonoo. “The juxtaposition of influences allowed the collection to play with subtly sexy uniform silhouettes, which are paired with feminine but tailored flatforms. The flatforms make life easy, taking you seamlessly from ‘day to play.’”
The designer shared an exclusive sketch with FN, previewing a block-heel strappy sandal with contrast stitching. She also revealed the collection will feature “red, bold modern lines, denim, and a celebration of color.”
The collection will be shown via Nonoo’s digital-only fashion show, which she chose to unveil on Instagram in place of a traditional runway show.
“We’re especially impressed with the innovative and gutsy way she is choosing to present her collection,” said Douglas Bensadoun, chief brand officer at Aldo.
The past collaborations between the footwear retailer saw block-heeled, cut out sandals, as well as strappy flats and heels with removable ankle straps.
