Mariah Carey Set to Perform ‘All I Want for Christmas’ at Billboard Music Awards 2023

Mariah Carey will put on a Christmas extravaganza performance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Nov. 19. The “Emotions” songstress will take the BBMAs stage for an Aspen-inspired and surprise-filled performance of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which will mark the first time in history the iconic single has ever been performed on an awards show.
During the ceremony, Carey will also be honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for the chart-topping holiday hit.
The hitmaker’s performance is just one of many that will take place during the highly-anticipated award ceremony, joining the likes of David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, Karol G, NewJeans, Peso Pluma, Stray Kids and Morgan Wallen.
Carey is currently on her “Merry Christmas One and All!” tour that will wrap on Dec. 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The tour began on Wednesday in Highland, Calif., and spans 13 dates.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” was released in 1994 and has since become the unofficial anthem of the holiday season. The mega-hit finally reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 song charts in 2019 and has reached number one in the following years. The aforementioned milestone has cemented Carey as the unofficial “Queen of Christmas.”
As of November 2023, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has spent 12 total weeks at No. 1. It’s only the second holiday song to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 after “The Chipmunk Song” in 1958. The festive song became Mariah’s 19th Hot 100 No. 1 in 2019, extending her record for the most No. 1s of any solo artist.
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards presented by Marriott Bonvoy will celebrate music’s most outstanding achievements, honoring the year’s hottest names in music determined by year-end performance metrics on the Billboard charts. The event will stream on bmas.watch.com.
