As part of an ongoing practice to ensure employees have time to rest, relax and celebrate the annual event with their families and loved ones, Turkey Day will find most stores in the U.S. completely closed — including Nordstrom, Target, Walmart and more.
However, these retailers will reopen their doors to welcome customers on Black Friday as the holiday shopping season begins.

Stores are closed on Thanksgiving to allow their employees the holiday off to be with family and friends. Walmart has been a key leader in the Thanksgiving closure movement; in fact, its CEO John Furner shared the retailer will be closed for the fourth consecutive Thanksgiving earlier this fall.
