Adidas Celebrates Draft Day with Video of Andrew Wiggins

Call it hoop dreams two.

With the NBA Draft taking place later today — and lots of future stars in the making — Adidas turned its marketing attention to Andrew Wiggins to honor the league’s rookie of the year. Wiggins, who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves, reflects on the biggest moment of his life in the commercial.

The campaign video, called Draft Day Kicks, capitalizes on the excitement Wiggins felt when he was picked to play professionally in 2014. The spot also showcases the outfit he wore, along with the design of the new ZX Flux shoe.

“That night I needed to do something special,” he said in the video, which is part of Adidas’ ImaginedBy campaign. “So now it’s the biggest day of my life, draft day. I can switch it up. Just look good doing it.”

The ad is part of what the initiative kicked off last week with Big Sean and Adidas Originals donating a music studio to the high school the artist attended in Detroit. The campaign continues throughout the year.

Earlier in the week, the company launched the Crazylight Boost 2015, which pays tribute to Wiggins’ Canadian roots. The silhouette has white maple leaves on both tongues and “an iced outsole and a speckled white and blue midsole.”
