Macy’s Bold New Chapter strategy calls for closing approximately 150 underproductive locations through 2026 including about 50 by the end of the fiscal year; investing in approximately 350 “go-forward” locations, and expanding the small-format chains, which are Bloomie’s, the specialized and downsized Macy’s units, Bloomingdale’s outlets and Backstage off-price units.
The strategy also calls for “delivering a scalable technology platform,” as well as monetizing $600 million to $750 million of assets through 2026, which involves selling off certain real estate such as parking lots; rationalizing and monetizing the supply chain; streamlining fulfillment and improving inventory planning and allocation, and beginning in 2025, achieving low-single-digit annual comparable owned and licensed marketplace sales growth.
Credendino, who joined Macy’s Inc. in 2022, is credited with improving the customer experience both in-store and online at Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. His team was instrumental in launching the company’s digital marketplace, advancing personalization and helping Macy’s better know and service customers. Credendino and his team also put in place the infrastructure and technology enhancements for the redesign of macys.com and bloomingdales.com, evolved the macys.com wedding registry and launched online baby registries for both nameplates. He is currently leading efforts to modernize the checkout experience to make it more efficient for workers and customers.
Before joining Macy’s Inc. Credendino was senior vice president of digital technology and enterprise data at Inspire Brands, a multibrand global restaurant company. Earlier, he was a technology executive at The Home Depot, InterContinental Hotels Group and Cox Enterprises.
Miller joined Macy’s Inc. in 2021 and is credited with building the technology leadership team, modernizing technology systems, operations and the company’s omnichannel digital offerings.
“The entire Macy’s Inc. family wishes Laura well on her retirement and thanks her for the many accomplishments over her transformative tenure,” Mitchell said.
