LJP International has inked a licensing deal to produce and distribute boys’ footwear under the Ben Sherman label.
The Edison, N.J.-based firm will develop a wide assortment of fashion-driven looks for launch at retail in fall ’16.
“Our goal for the collection is to offer preppy, casual and dress options for boys to accompany the [Ben Sherman] men’s [offering],” said Larry Paparo, president and CEO of LJP, whose stable of licensed brands also includes Nine West, Mootsies Tootsies, Bruno Magli, Robert Graham and Limited Too.
Styles will include sneakers, oxfords, boots, chukkas and moccasins, featuring styling and details that highlight Ben Sherman’s British roots. “[The product] will reflect the rich heritage of the brand while focusing on the youth styles of today,” Paparo noted.
Michael DeVirgilio, president of Marquee Brands, which owns Ben Sherman, said the kids’ market represents a key opportunity for the brand.
“Adding this exciting category to the existing Ben Sherman brand will expand our market, enticing a new customer to purchase the brand,” DeVirgilio said. “LJP is the perfect partner to take on this new venture. Their success in the children’s footwear business was a key deciding factor in selecting them.”
