Ugg‘s Classic Slim boots are racking up some famous connections.
Last week, Oprah included the Kristin style on her annual “Favorite Things” list, and today, the brand revealed that celebrity stylist and shoe designer Rachel Zoe was the creative force behind the line’s new lookbook.
Zoe styled the shoot in Los Angeles with help from fashion photographer Justin Coit, imbuing the collection with a glamorous, street-style vibe. Featured in the photos are five styles from the Ugg Classic Slim Collection, whose styles have a slimmer silhouette than the originals, with a 10-millimeter Twinface sheepskin shaft. The shearling-lined boots come in two heel heights — a flat and a wedge — and there’s also a flat laceup ankle boot called the Bethany.
To shake up the look of the Bethany, Zoe came up with the idea of back-tying. “I mixed it up a little bit. I messed up the laces and pulled the tongue out so you see the pop of shearling,” she said in a statement. “Then I tied the laces behind the heel so it’s more like a back-tie for a super-edgy look.”
Of the opportunity to work with Ugg, Zoe added, “I so enjoyed styling their lookbook for the launch of the Classic Slim Collection. My intention was to achieve that effortless cool-girl style, something that just feels so inherent to the brand.”
Images from the lookbook, as well as behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, will be on display in Ugg retail stores and on the brand’s website.
In recent months, Ugg, a division of Goleta, Calif.-based Deckers Brands, has been moving beyond its beach-culture roots to cultivate a more fashionable image. In addition to creating the Classic Slim Collection, the brand has launched an Italian-made Classic Luxe Collection, featuring supermodel Carolyn Murphy in its fall ’15 ad campaign.
