Altra President Jennifer McLaren on the Importance of Paying it Forward: Women Who Rock
Jennifer McLaren’s network of leaders and sponsors has been a tremendous asset throughout her career, and with her position atop Altra, she’s eager to pay it forward.
The exec, who was named president in April 2023, explained she does this internally in several ways, including providing leadership opportunities and exposure for projects within Altra and VF Corp. She also sponsors her colleagues for leadership roles and promotions.
These efforts extend externally, as well, specifically by forging bonds with other women in the industry.

“We recently hosted a Women’s Impact Summit, bringing in amazing female leaders across run specialty to create connection and lead impact and change in the industry. The idea was brought to me by Stacy Chick, an outstanding sales leader on our team, and I was excited to be able to support her in leading this,” McLaren said. “The summit was incredibly impactful and gave an opportunity to showcase many talented female leaders in the industry.”
These efforts are representative of women’s support of one another, which McLaren believes is greater now than ever before. “Women are seeking each other out for that support network and inspiration. Your community is key to your success, and women recognize that,” she said.
