Aldo‘s Amanda Amar was recently promoted to the VP of Global Brand Strategy, Social Media and PR. A move that comes after being championed by leadership through the years, she explained.

“The best leaders are those who champion you even when you’re not in the room and who genuinely care about you as a person,” she said. “Some of the most memorable moments in my career have been those personal connections with leadership—when they took the time to see me, support me, or nurture my growth.”

Amar has since taken her experiences and tailored that into her own leadership style. Though, it’s ever-evolving.

“I believe in creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves and knowing their voices are heard. Recognizing small wins helps keep the team motivated, and I lean toward collaboration over hierarchy,” she said. “A foundation of mutual, inherent trust is absolutely essential. I admire leaders who are secure in themselves, can check their egos at the door, and lead without insecurity.”

Sharing opportunities and advocating for her employees — especially when they’re not in the room — is key. “I make it a point to promote and “PR” my team members or colleagues who may have less visibility within the organization,” she explained.

To further support the next generation of leaders, Amar believes it’s essential to frame this conversation around systems, not individuals.

“Women are not inherently unsupportive of one another. Instead, systemic barriers—such as competition for limited opportunities and workplace cultures that pit people against each other—can create the perception of this dynamic,” said Amar. “To counter this, we need to focus on fostering environments that encourage collaboration and mutual success. By addressing systemic issues, sharing resources, and celebrating each other’s wins, we can ensure that women continue to lift one another up and reshape this outdated narrative.”
