Gal Gadot proved the power of waist-up styling this week, completing a day of Zoom video call press in bold fashion.
As styled by Elizabeth Stewart, the “Wonder Woman” actress mastered intentional dressing in a neon pink Jacquemus blazer layered over a V-neck white tee and matching drawstring sweatpants. In a top-heavy look best for video calls, waist-up dressing is a growing trend favorited by Kate Middleton, Ashley Graham and more that implies only gussying up the top part of your ensemble that will be seen in the video’s frame.
Continuing that idea, Gadot decided to ditch her typical heels and instead tapped Rene Xaovilla for flat sandals. The thong-toe design wrapped across the ankle and heel for a supported base, helpful for the actress who is expecting her third child with husband Yaron Varsano. Similar designs from the brand retail for over $1,000 at Net-a-Porter.
Thong-toe footwear returned to the celebrity scene last year as one of spring and summer’s biggest trends and is expected to stick around in 2021. Be it classic flip-flops or thong-toe heels, the minimalistic silhouette falls in line with a ’90s-inspired revitalization of fashion, as seen with shoes like square-toe styles and pops of neon color. Stars like Chrissy Teigen along with Meryl Streep and Gabrielle Union amongst other major names are continuing to support the trend in even cooler temperatures.
Gadot herself is also a major fan of another spring trend: “ugly” sandals. She wore a design pair courtesy of Miu Miu for the Producers Guild of America Awards in March; the kicker of the design comes in the form of an unmissable oversize crystal embellishment, all retailing together for $650 on Farfetch.
When it comes to her own personal style, Gadot’s look for the press day this week is a typical choice for the “Red Notice” actress. Her go-to brands for dressed-up attire include Saint Laurent, Stuart Weitzman and Sergio Rossi while she tends to switch it up for more casual footwear — think Reebok and Common Projects sneakers.
