Blake Lively went incognito to run errands across New York this week but still managed to break out a trending pair of sandals in the mix.
The “A Simple Favor” actress was barely recognizable beneath her floppy hat, face masks and sunglasses during her Manhattan outing yesterday. Her outfit gave off a monochrome appeal in a scoop-neck sweater and matching pants, all cinched together with a silver-buckled belt.
To top off the beachside attire, the actress brought back one of 2020’s biggest footwear trends: “ugly” sandals. Typically considered “ugly” in the world of fashion, the new appreciation for comfortable sandal styles comes with an increased desire for ease of wear and stability in the fashion world amidst the current environment — and for 2021, too, it appears the shoes are here to stay. Brands like Teva and Birkenstock are at the forefront of the trend while celebs including Britney Spears, Tracee Ellis Ross and Sofia Richie can oftentimes be spotted in the silhouettes.
Thorne’s own pick gave the trend a designer twist, tapping Chanel for a black double-strap design. The chic flats have since sold out but once retailed for over $1,800 and were a favorite of Elsa Hosk, Alexa Chung, Bella Thorne and more.
As for Lively, the actress oftentimes favors heels from Christian Louboutin when she isn’t in casual duds. Fans of Blake Lively’s style know that red bottom heels are no new thing in her closet. The Los Angeles native continues to support the French designer as she has for over a decade now, wearing his pieces for everything from movie premieres to off-duty outings to even the 2018 Met Gala.
