Jason Sudeikis Wears Shirt Supporting England’s Black Soccer Players at ‘Ted Lasso’ Premiere
Jason Sudeikis used the red carpet to make a statement at the second season premiere of “Ted Lasso” on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
The actor wore a black and white shirt bearing the names of England’s Black soccer players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, who were racially abused on social media after they missed penalties in the UEFA Euro 2020 final match on Sunday, resulting in England’s defeat to Italy.
The racist attacks on the players were also condemned by other celebrities such as Diddy, Dua Lipa and Tom Holland, as well as England’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Prince William. Since then, arrests have been made for the online harassment and an investigation is still underway.
Sudeikis is familiar with English football now after co-writing and starring in “Ted Lasso.” The Apple TV+ comedy, which just nabbed a record 20 Emmy nominations for a freshman comedy, features Sudeikis as a former American football coach who gets hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, having never played soccer at all.

This isn’t the first time Sudeikis used his platform to stand up for a cause.
At the SAG Awards in April, he donned a $1,100 “My Body My Choice” sweater by Gucci in support of reproductive rights.
