After revealing a must-have look with New Balance late last month, boutique retail standout Concepts is set to release a limited-edition line with Lacoste that includes a new iteration of a 1990s sneaker from the brand.
The collection, according to Concepts, is rooted in their shared connection to Boston, with inspiration coming from summer destinations such as Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. To pull this off, Concepts reimagined some Lacoste favorites with hues including igloo green, sand, praisun and tanzanite blue, pairing the colors with reflective hits “that capture the essence of the sun’s reflection during nightfall.”
Arguably the highlight of the collection is the Storm 96. Concepts explained that it aimed to give the silhouette a new look — which is limited to 500 pairs in the U.S. — while keeping “the retro mood of the ’90s.” It is equipped with an iridescent logo, gold-tipped laces, interchangeable tongue-tags and one patch to mark each Concepts location worldwide that can be stored in a bespoke pouch in the tongue for changes as you’re out and about.
Aside from the sneaker, the lineup includes several apparel selections such as hoodies, T-shirts, swimming shorts, a windbreaker and tracksuits.
“Lacoste is grounded in tradition and carries a storied legacy. The brand is highly credible and true to themselves — they don’t chase trends and have impeccably maintained their classic aesthetic, for over 85 years,” Concepts CEO and founder Tarek Hassan said in a statement. “Those qualities came to life in this collection — it allows us to bring our customers a global heritage brand, but with a unique Concepts twist.”
The Concepts x Lacoste lineup — including the Storm 96 — arrives Aug. 14 via Cncpts.com, Lacoste.com (in the U.S. and Europe) and at the retailer’s stores in Boston, New York City, China and Dubai.
