Olivia Morris is back with a new collection of glamorous house shoes called Olivia Morris at Home.

The British designer — who established herself on the shoe scene in the aughts before closing down her namesake business — spent the past decade building her expertise at well-known brands such as Hobbs and Lulu Guinness.

Last year, the mom of two decided to strike out on her own once again — and this time, expensive high heels weren’t part of the vision. “I’m spending a lot more time at home, and when I looked at the slipper market, I just didn’t feel like there was a stylish and glamorous option. I wanted something that felt more like a designer shoe with designer details,” Morris said, noting that vintage Daniel Green looks were part of her research.

Prices start at 245 pounds, or $320 at current exchange, while some styles retail for 275 pounds, or around $360.

While she crafted the business plan before the pandemic upended life, Morris’s new collection is fitting for an era when many people are working and entertaining at home.

The made-in-Spain house mules are decked out in vintage fabrics, spanning the eras, from the designer’s personal collection.  She was inspired by gardening and florals, as well as prints and textiles. Materials include soft velvets and satins, with embellishments such as oversized bows and pom-poms. Each piece was named after Morris’ favorite flowers, including daphne, poppy, rose and blossom. “I wanted to combine humor and nostalgia.” Morris said.

It was also important to stay focused on the mule silhouette. “I really wanted to own that first style before doing anything else,” Morris said.

In addition to the designer’s own website, key pieces from the collection will be available at Shopbop.com starting in November. Other retailers stocking Morris’s slippers include the Arddun Store at Harvey Nichols and Cement in Japan.
