Footwear legend Manolo Blahnik is once again ruling the runways at New York Fashion Week, with numerous collaborations.
For Khaite’s first runway show, which showed Feb. 7, the brand teamed up with Manolo Blahnik on the perfect strappy pump. Dubbed the Teetala, the style comes in three colors: brown, black and tan. With a T-strap and a kitten heel, the shoe feels both vintage-inspired and very of-the-moment.
Meanwhile, Jason Wu and Manolo Blahnik were at it once again after several previous collaborations. For Wu’s fall ’19 presentation on Friday, three styles were shown: the Laura, a simple skinny-strap sandal done in black, burgundy and nude snakeskin; the BB pump in forest green snakeskin, hot-pink satin and siren red; and the Anclara, a jewel-strap pump in black, burgundy and champagne satin.
Other footwear partnerships this season include Adam Lippes, Jonathan Simkhai, Sally Lapointe and Carolina Herrera.
For Lippes, who showed on Sunday, the shoe designer helped craft a set of series of sleek calf-hugging boots in ankle and midcalf heights, and range of colors, from white and black to royal blue and metallic gold. The pointy-toe styles teeter atop an incredibly delicate kitten heel.
Manolo Blahnik has a long history of partnering with high-fashion brands for runway footwear, having teamed up with designers like John Galliano and Issac Mizrahi in the ’90s.
On Monday, pointy slingbacks and mules took the stage at the Carolina Herrera fall 2019 show at the New York Historical Society. Flats in a rainbow of colors, including royal blue, purple, fire engine red and turquoise were paired with billowy looks on the runway.
This story will be updated to include the latest from the shows throughout NYFW.
