Pregnant Pippa Middleton Gets a Lift in Chic Platform Espadrilles at Wimbledon

Pippa Middleton nailed the perfect effortless summer look yesterday at Wimbledon.

The avid tennis fan, who is expecting her first child with husband James Matthews, breezed into the stands wearing a pretty midi-length broderie anglaise sundress, detailed with ruffled sleeves. She accessorized with a pair of oversized round sunglasses, a straw panama hat adorned with pompoms and a chic pair of platform espadrilles. It seems the shoes are a favorite: She wore the same style in a neutral cream shade to the French Open in May.

Middleton’s espadrilles — which are very similar to Soludos’ Tall Wedge style (offered in a range of summery colors including nutmeg and blush) — featured a chambray upper and linen straps that tied around the ankle. They were a perfect way for the petite expectant mom to add a little height without sacrificing comfort.

Middleton was accompanied to the match by her younger brother, James Middleton, who looked dapper in a navy blue linen double-breasted sport coat and white trousers. He topped off his preppy look with Ray-Ban shades, a light blue tie and dark blue suede tassel loafers.

Although their royal sister, Kate Middleton, is typically a Wimbledon regular, it’s expected that the Duchess of Cambridge will skip this year’s tournament as she continues to enjoy her maternity leave following the April 23 birth of her third child, Prince Louis. However, royal watchers are hoping that her new sister-in-law, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will make an appearance, particularly as her good friend Serena Williams is on the player roster.

Catching the Wimbledon action is a longtime tradition for the Middleton family. The Duchess of Cambridge revealed in the 2017 BBC documentary “Sue Barker: Our Wimbledon” that the famed tennis event was “very much part of [her] growing up.”

“It’s such a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters,” she commented in the film. “It inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game. It hasn’t changed either, [and] I think that’s what’s so wonderful.”
