The Mood: Amped-up Edwardian, from proportions to palette. With Picasso-esque murals by set artist Gary Card, the entire space was swathed in deep teal.
The Shoes: A highly-pigmented range of magenta, violet, amber and that same teal really sang when complemented with coordinating boots by Tabitha Simmons. The over-the-knee velvet styles (the material is a popular choice this season) had a slim legging fit set on a block heel and sweet rounded toe. They were done in garnet and indigo, which finished the rich look. A few exits were paired less effectively with a flat point and opaque tights. Designer Roksanda Ilincic’s proportions and heavy fabrics are better suited to more substantial shoes.

The Verdict: Last season was the first collaboration between Illincic and Simmons. The resulting shoes tried a little too hard and didn’t really reflect either of their unique sensibilities. It seems, through, they have found a nice groove for fall. This go around, their efforts had serious legs.
