With the shows at London Collections: Men officially kicking off today, the runways are bound to offer an exciting assortment of men’s shoes for fall ’16. The feeling of newness was a movement that took off in London this past year, with labels offering more experimental and bold designs than those seen in other cities.
In honor of this season’s London Fashion Week, we’re looking back at some of the best men’s shoes to come out of London in 2015.
Of course, Footwear News covered the rising trend of unisex shoe collections. Designers in London really pushed the boundaries of gender fluidity: J.W. Anderson showed patent squared-toe flats for spring ’16, and Katie Eary went for pink glitter high-tops the same season. Back in fall ’15, Moschino offered ultra furry après-ski boots.
Bold prints were also prevalent on the London footwear scene. Coach’s spring ’16 collection focused offered a range of printed sneakers and slides, from graffiti to zebra prints. Christopher Kane’s athleisure focus continued with multicolor, striped neoprene sneakers.
And who could forget Burberry Prorsum’s recent spring ’16 collection? From patent dress shoes finished with burnished toe caps and suede loafers with colored tassels, the presence of color was a refreshing sight given menswear’s tendency toward black. Baby steps, guys. Baby steps.
