Following Donald Trump winning the presidential election on Nov. 8., many of Kanye West‘s fans are calling on the rapper and designer to run for the presidency in 2020.
West first sparked this idea when he got onstage at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards and said that he had plans to run in 2020. Now that Trump — a real estate businessman and former reality television star — won the presidency having never served in public office, some are thinking West’s chance of winning is better than ever.
The hashtag #Kanye2020 was trending last week on Twitter and Instagram.

Over the weekend, West finally broke his silence on the topic in an interview with BBC Radio host Annie Mac.
“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” he said. “I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time to somehow make a difference while I’m still alive, I’m all for it.”
Despite having an affinity for Twitter rants, West has not yet taken to the social media platform to share his views. Although his wife, Kim Kardashian West, has been silent on social media since a robbery incident in Paris last month, some of Kardashian West’s family members have been vocal on social media through the election and following Hillary Clinton’s loss to Trump.
