Two of the world’s biggest headline-makers — Kanye West and Donald Trump — met today in New York.
The rapper and designer arrived at Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan this morning and headed straight for the elevators with a cameraman in tow. Shortly after that, West and President-elect Trump emerged in the building’s lobby for a photo op.
“We’ve been friends for a long time,” Trump told reporters and photographers. Trump also said the two talked about “life.” When reporters continued asking questions, West said, “I just want to take a picture right now.”

Even in the presence of the president-elect, West still opted to wear a sweatshirt, black jeans and the unreleased Adidas Calabasas sneakers. This is West’s first trip to New York following a weeklong hospitalization at the end of November for reported exhaustion. West subsequently canceled the rest of his Saint Pablo Tour. Earlier in November, West told the crowd at his San Jose, Calif., concert that he didn’t vote, but if he did, he would’ve voted for Trump.

Following Trump’s election, many of West’s fans called on him to keep his promise to run for president in 2020. West addressed that subject on a BBC radio show. “When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” he told radio host Annie Mac. “I don’t have views on politics; I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time to somehow make a difference while I’m still alive, I’m all for it.”
