This month, Tod’s is introducing a new charitable shoe style in collaboration with New York women’s wear designer Gabriela Hearst. The slip-on style, dubbed the “Love,” has landed in stores and was feted with a lunch at Hearst’s townhouse in New York’s West Village.
Twenty percent of proceeds from the sale of the shoes, which retail for $645 at Tod’s stores and online, will go to the organization Save the Children, which works in more than 120 countries. Funds will be allocated to education and health programs.
“We’re pleased to collaborate with Gabriela Hearst and Save the Children on this philanthropic product,” said Claudio Castiglioni, general brand manager for Tod’s. “Tod’s is a company that believes in charity and giving back, and how nice to do it with our most popular sneaker reimagined with a special twist by Gabriela Hearst.”
For her part, Hearst has already taken to wearing the sneakers with tailoring. “I love pairing them with my suits for work— the classic style is so sleek and cool,” says Hearst. “It’s perfect for my life on the go.”
The menswear-inspired style features broguing and a Morse code trim that reads “love,” a detail the designer lifted from her eponymous fall ’16 collection. It’s finished with handcrafted woven rope trim and rubber outsole with embossed pebbles. It is available in navy, black and white calf leather and a metallic silver version.
To celebrate the collaboration, photographer Hans Neuman shot a selection of style-setters in the sneaker, including Lauren Hutton, Miroslava Duma and Dakota Fanning.
