Adidas Brings Back a Forgotten Classic
These days, sneakers such as the Yeezy Boost, NMD and Ultra Boost often dominate the discussion when it comes to Adidas, making it easy to overlook just how far the brand has come in its nearly 70-year legacy. To ensure that the earlier eras are not forgotten, the Adidas Originals Archive division offers an opportunity to own the sneakers that helped shape the groundwork for the legendary brand with three stripes.
Adidas Originals Archive’s latest output is a collaboration with U.K. retailer Size? Here, the ongoing partnership results in a low-top execution of the Albrecht, a sneaker that is heavily inspired by the classic — and increasingly difficult to track down — Adidas Sevilla.

The Albrecht was designed by Gary Aspden, curator of the Adidas Spezial heritage collection. “We didn’t want to re-create the Sevilla to its exact specifications — it is quite a lumpy shoe in the flesh. We took its upper as a foundation for the design of a new shoe and worked from vintage catalogue images,” Aspden said in an interview with Size? As a result, the Albrecht adopts the upper of the original Sevilla in two brown suede offerings and uses tooling of the Adidas Gazelle in a rubber gum.
The Size? x Adidas Originals Archive Albrechts are now available from Size? for £80 each, which converts to around $104.
