Malibu Sandals Debuts First Women’s Collection

Since it debuted a year ago with a line of handmade men’s huaraches, California-based Malibu Sandals has been making quick strides.

This week, the brand unveiled its first foray into the women’s market: a capsule collection of five woven sandal styles. Included in the offering are feminine adaptations of its core men’s collection, including the Canyon and Zuma. And specifically for women, Malibu has created the Trancas style and a pared-down version of the Canyon, dubbed the Canyon Slide.

Like the men’s collection, the women’s line features cushioned three-piece outsoles and anatomically correct ultra-soft footbeds. And as a cruelty-free brand, Malibu makes all its products with PETA-approved vegan leather and nylon, and an eco-friendly, water-based glue.

The women’s shoes are on sale now on the brand’s e-commerce site and at boutiques such as Canvas in Malibu, Calif., and Nepenthes in New York. Prices start at $80.

But let’s not ignore the male customer. For guys, Malibu has a new spring collab with Italian fashion label Missoni that first debuted on the Missoni runway in Milan last fall.

The line of huarache sandals blends Missoni’s colorful palette with Malibu’s handmade designs to create a union of fashion and utility. According to Malibu, it supplied the sandal designs and production, while Missoni directed the colorful aesthetics and material selections.

The Missoni x Malibu collab styles are available online now for $150.
