Derek Lam is putting his design touches on a classic Teva sandal.
The designer partnered with the shoe brand for his Athleta x Derek Lam collaboration, which launches today. Athleta x Derek Lam x Teva is Lam’s creative update to Teva’s iconic silhouette, the Original.
“As with the ready-to-wear and performance footwear, we created our collaborative Teva from a desire to give women a sandal that looks fresh and modern walking down a New York street and is just as appropriate on a rural hiking trail,” said Elizabeth Giardina, VP of design at Derek Lam. “The white perforated leather strapping was inspired by athletic mesh fabrics — we love how this felt elevated in leather and striking blocked with the classic black sole.”
The shoe retails for $85 and is available online at Dereklam.com, Teva.com and Athleta.com, as well as in Derek Lam retail locations.
“We could not have asked for a more knowledgeable and committed partner than Athleta. Our yearlong collaboration was a true creative exchange between two established brands — together we imagined how our fashionable athletic women wants to dress and feel,” added Giardina. “This is especially important since increasingly the lines are blurred between daywear and activewear — a women may incorporate activewear into her daywear and vice versa. The collaborative collection was designed to address this modern way of living.”
