Vans has added a patriotic dash of red, white and blue to its 50th anniversary collection with its 50th Era Pro ’83 Stripes/Checkers rerelease.
The retro look is a throwback to the same pair Freestyle BMX legend Eddy Fiola famously wore in a 1983 Vans advertisement. The toes and heels feature red and off-white stripes while the panels have blue and off-white checkers.
The shoes include impact cushioning UltraCush HD sockliners, DURACAP reinforcement rubber underlays for added protection in high-wear areas and single-wrap foxing tape for lightweight flexibility.
Available just weeks before Fourth of July, the colorway retails for $70 at select Vans stores or online.

Vans kicked off its 50th anniversary celebrations in March with a visual campaign series titled “The Story of Vans,” which combined a mix of animation methods to highlight iconic moments from the brand’s history. The campaign launched at 10 House of Vans locations around the world to celebrate the brand’s milestone.
Vans unveiled its laser-cut sneaker collection for women earlier this week as well as a Nintendo collection released earlier this month, featuring prints inspired by the classic video game. The brand also expanded its Classic Lites collection for spring and recently collaborated with retailer & Other Stories.
