The Oklahoma City Thunder are good at defying expectations. After beating the San Antonio Spurs in six games to advance to the Western Conference Finals, the team — led by Russell Westbrook — bested the Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors on their home court last night, earning a 1-0 series lead.
Westbrook — wearing a black and tonal gray player’s edition of the Air Jordan XXX — led Oklahoma City in scoring Monday, dropping 27 points on 7-of-21 shooting (and hitting 11-of-14 free throws) on Golden State at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. The guard also had 12 assists, six rebounds, and seven steals in the 108-102 win.
And Durant wasn’t too far behind Westbrook in scoring for the Thunder. The Nike-sponsored forward scored 26 points on 10-of-30 shooting, also grabbing 10 rebounds in a blue and orange player’s edition of the KD8. Steven Adams also was a big contributor Monday, scoring 16 points in a black and orange pair of the Adidas D Rose 773. The center also grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked two shots in 37 minutes of play.
Westbrook, Durant, Adams and the Thunder will be on the road to face the Warriors at the Oracle Arena for Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference Finals on Wednesday.
