Rihanna’s Puma Trainers Sell Out For Men, Still Available For Women

The newly released sneakers haven't gathered the same momentum that Rihanna's Puma Creeper style did last fall.

Rihanna‘s Fenty trainer for Pumareleased on Friday online and in select retailers, has not had nearly the same success that her Creepers had late last year.

The trainer is offered in three colors — black, white and red — and is available for both men and women. The laceless shoes feature an oversized tongue, and the upper is made from Ariaprene, a neoprene that is designed to create a secure and breathable fit.

The men’s stock has sold out on Puma’s website. As for women’s, there is not the same interest. The black-and-red colorways are nearly sold out, while the white is still available in almost every size.

When the Creeper style was released in September, it sold out in three hours. Subsequent drops garnered similar interest from fans, and there were also additional colorway drops in November. Celebrities including Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid and Lena Dunham are all fans of the style.

Rihanna also debuted the Fenty x Puma collection at New York Fashion Week in February. Despite the reception of the trainer, there will be more to come from this collaboration. When Puma recently reported its fourth quarter earnings, the brand credited its work with Rihanna for igniting its women’s business.

“Our co-operation with Rihanna and a strong product offering have increased the interest from both retailers and consumers,” said CEO Björn Gulden.

Puma also confirmed that it has signed on Kylie Jenner, who will appear in the brand’s spring ’16 ad campaign out next month.
