The 2016 Summer Olympics have been full of noteworthy footwear moments. But on Sunday, one of the event’s most unexpected highlights took place when Chinese diver Qin Kai proposed to his girlfriend and fellow diver He Zi.
Qin proposed to his girlfriend following her silver medal win in the women’s 3-meter springboard. For what is sure to go down as one of the most memorable moments in Qin’s life — and likely one of the most viral videos of the entire Olympics — the diver wore the Adidas Ultra Boost.
“We’ve been dating for six years, but I didn’t expect him to propose today,” He Zi said in a press conference. She accepted the proposal immediately, adding a diamond ring alongside her medal.
“He said a lot of things, made a lot of promises, but I think the thing that touched me the most is I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life,” the silver medalist said.
As for Qin, he took home the bronze medal in the men’s 3-meter synchronized springboard.
The engagement between Qin Kai and He Zi is the second of the 2016 games. The first was last week and involved Brazilian women’s rugby player Isadora Cerullo and stadium manager Marjorie Enya.
